Students transferring to Grange Park KS5 from other provisions

Students are also able to transfer to Grange Park School from other provisions at the end of Key Stage 4. For information regarding admissions, please see the Grange Park Admissions Policy and speak to your SEN Officer.

Come and look at the provisions

Tours of the school and colleges run regularly throughout the year. These are often at 16:00 so as to provide a quiet opportunity to look around the facilities and more opportunity to ask questions. There is also a virtual tour on the school website in the About Us page.

Applying for a place

To access a Grange Park Post-16 provision you will be required to do the following:

  • If your child is in Year 10 you will be asked by Kent County Council to identify your preferred provision for Post-16 education i.e. “Grange Park School” (do not put Grange Park @ Mid-Kent College, on the form, as this can cause confusion).

  • In Year 10 and 11 EHCP Annual Reviews you will be asked to identify the provision your child wishes to attend. Again even if you wish your child to attend one of the college provisions please put “Grange Park School” and we will then review their EHCP, aspirations, preferences etc. and discuss which provision is the best for your child.

Please speak to the SENCO/FLO/Key Stage 4 Leader at your school, Kent Council SEN Team or call the Grange Park School (01732 882 111) for more information.

Transition once a place is accepted

Once a student is accepted into Key Stage 5, we work with the student’s current school and parents to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.

This is what we do:

  • A welcome pack is sent to parents/carers with all the forms that need to be completed.

  • A student handbook containing information about Key Stage 5

  • Parents’ Visits

  • Taster Days

  • We gather information from your child’s secondary school.

  • Meetings are arranged with the Form Staff or Speech and Language Therapist in June/July (if applicable) to baseline the pupil.

No transition is worry free but this process will make the process as smooth as possible!
