Pathway 2: Post 16 @ College

The Post 16 @ College pathway is a unique pathway enabling students to study at one of partnership colleges on a study programme of their choice*.  There are over 35 different vocational areas across fours levels that students can choose from, in addition to studying English, mathematics and undertaking work placement in the industry of interest.

We currently work with Mid Kent College across their two campuses.

This pathway enables students to access specialist courses while continuing to improve their independence and their preparation for adulthood with the support of Grange Park Learning Mentors.

Key Features

  • 35 different vocational areas across four levels of study

  • Supportive and robust transition programme.

  • Students on this pathway are entitled to a five day provision at the college. This includes the vocational aspect, English and mathematics (all taught by college specialists), Personal study - which is support with work from their course and independence skills, which is facilitated by Grange Park learning mentors

  • Tiered Support to ensure a personalised approach to each student. More details can ben found below

  • Use of Grange Park base rooms for support

  • Specialist trained Grange Park staff

  • Pastoral support and therapy support as needed

We expected the vast majority of students to transition to college as a college student before year 14. Most students are on a one-year transition programme back into mainstream.

Further information can be found in the Information booklet at the bottom of this page about all aspects of the Post 16 @ College pathway.

Tiered Support

The tiered support approach allows a truly personalised approach to the support a Grange park student receives on this pathway.  Every aspect of the students' day is looked at support is given based on need.  This allows students to be involved in their level of support to enable them  to take ownership on their journey to independence and success.

Please see the Tiered Support document for further information.
