Online Safety Certified School & Parents Guides

As a school we are committed to keeping our children safe and have recently achieved The National Online Safety Certified Community accreditation. From this we will be regularly sending home information on the current dangers that our children face online.

The dangers that our pupils face online is ever changing. We need to ensure that we are one step ahead and are aware of the new dangers that present themselves.

As part of this we wrote last term inviting parents to take part in an online course to inform themselves of some of the online dangers our pupils may face.
Some of our pupils probably know more about technology than we do and so it is important that we teach them how to keep themselves safe. Online safety is covered in some of our ICT lessons. When they are covering this aspect of their learning we will inform you and encourage you to discuss this with your child.

Once you have registered, you will be able to access the “Online Safety for Parents and Carers’ course and National Online Safety’s Resources (which includes 50+ online platform guides on the latest social media channels and games). This aims to help empower parents with the knowledge to protect their children from the dangers of the internet.

There are lots on online supports to help children and young people enjoy the things that the internet has to offer, and Virgin Media have created a children’s internet safety test to help build awareness for parents and children of all ages to ensure they are better protected online.
