Lunchtime Clubs

The SaLT team run specific clubs designed to meet the needs of our pupils. These include

Boys’ Group and Girls’ Group:

Aims of the groups:

  • To develop interaction skills and friendships

  • To encourage conversation around shared experiences and interests

  • To develop awareness of self and others within a group

  • To develop an understanding of compromise and flexibility

Pupils choose if they want to come to the group, but if it is likely that they may benefit, they are encouraged to attend.

Activities include; arts and crafts, turn taking games, group discussions, sharing music and video clips.

 
Detective Club:

Aims of the group:

  • To support pupils to develop shared attention

  • To develop interaction skills. Including initiating, turn taking, talking and listening.

Pupils choose if they want to come to the group, but if it is likely that they may benefit, they are encouraged to attend.

Activities include; turn taking games, Attention Autism activities and messy play​.

 

Life Skills Club:

Aims of the group:

  • To develop interaction and friendships

  • Become more independent

  • Decision making and problem solving

  • Build self-confidence in the kitchen

  • Experience the need for teamwork

  • Help with coordination / motor planning difficulites.

Pupils choose if they want to come to the group, but if it is likely that they may benefit, they are encouraged to attend. There is normally a waiting list and pupils swap termly.

Activities include; turn taking, group discussion, decision making, sharing ideas and team work.

Daily lunch clubs are facilitated by staff. These change each term and are based on requests via the school council. Clubs include Football, Dodgeball, Trampolining, Cricket, Careers, Gaming, Arts and Crafts, Basketball, VR, Creative writing, Revision, Homework and Gardening.

Calm Club runs daily for pupils who require a low stimulus environment.
