Local Primary School

Placement Information

After securing a work placement at a local primary school to support with the delivery of the PE and games sessions across the school for one day a week.  They made such a positive impact he was asked to attend for further days to support in other aspects of the school community, and they travelled to the placement independently from their home.

A number of aspects of Social Communication and Emotional Regulation are developed through this work placement. These include;

  • Using metacognitive strategies to plan activities

  • Initiating and maintaining conversations relating to others’ interests

  • Persisting and repairing communication breakdowns

  • Learning and following new routines and rules

  • Following the rules of conversation, including conventions of politeness and register

  • Persisting in tasks with reasonable demands

Where are they now?

After the placement finished, the School was so impressed they contacted Grange Park to communicate this.  Grange Park worked with providers who could support the student to undertake a traineeship at the school which he has transitioned to and working well.
