Our Therapy Team
The therapy team are an integral part of Grange Park School, ensuring that neuroaffirmative practice is embedded throughout the school and sharing this with the wider community.
‘Understanding that there is natural variation in brain types across the human population, and all types of brains are important and valuable. This means that neurodivergent brains… should be seen as natural and equally as important, rather than disordered. When we do this, we can unconditionally accept neurodivergent individuals for who they are and celebrate and accommodate their differences by providing individualised supports that meet their specific needs.’
Raelene Dundon, p.13 (2024)
The school employs speech and language therapists and consultant occupational therapists to work with staff, pupils and families. The therapists are supported by two assistants who work to maintain our autism-friendly environment and deliver interventions as directed by the therapists.
Teaching staff work closely with the therapy team to ensure that the pupils’ autism needs are met and that any barriers to learning are overcome. The speech and language therapy lead is part of the schools Extended Leadership Team and is part of the strategic development of the school.
