Wellbien Award for Schools

Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS)

At Grange Park School, we are proud to have achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS) – a national award that recognises schools for their outstanding commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health for all.

What is the Wellbeing Award for Schools?

The Wellbeing Award for Schools is a nationally recognised accreditation developed in partnership with the National Children's Bureau (NCB). It focuses on:

  • Promoting positive mental health across the whole school community

  • Embedding a culture where wellbeing is seen as the responsibility of everyone

  • Providing effective support for pupils, staff, and families

Why Is It Important?

At Grange Park School, we believe that emotional wellbeing is just as important as academic success. Through this award, we aim to:

  • Create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn

  • Ensure all pupils have the tools they need to maintain positive mental health

  • Ensure staff wellbeing is prioritised and supported

  • Involve families in supporting mental health and wellbeing at home and in school

What We're Doing

As part of our journey to maintaining WAS, we are:

  • Gathering and reviewing feedback from students, staff, and parents/carers annually

  • Embedding the Zones of Regulation and Interoception curriculum to support pupils understanding of emotional regulation

  • Inviting positive mental health ambassadors into school to deliver workshops and tailored support to pupils and staff

  • Reviewing and improving our mental health and wellbeing policies and practices

  • Delivering regular wellbeing activities and awareness sessions for pupils and staff

  • Appointing pupil and staff wellbeing ambassadors to promote and advocate for all stakeholders mental health needs
