Readathon and Young Writers
Here you can find out all of the information regarding this years Readathon and Young Writers.
At Young Writers we’ve been busy planning our brand-new writing movement ‘Write to Unite’ and now it’s time to get everyone involved.
In the past few months, the world has turned upside-down. With schools closing early, the country on lockdown and people stuck at home, it is easy to see why some of us might be feeling a little blue. But that’s where ‘Write to Unite’ comes in!
It’s time to fight back against the mental impacts of Covid-19 in a fun and exciting way, involving people of all ages. Use the power of words to share kindness, lift the nation’s spirits, and reach out to our elderly and vulnerable.
It’s a great activity to do with key workers’ children at school as well as set as a task for pupils who are home learning. It’s a brilliant way to get the whole family writing at home and making positive memories.
Adults can get involved too! Write a poem, a story, a letter, or something else – the choice is yours.
It’s easy to join in. Visit www.writetounite.co.uk where you’ll find lots of free resources and templates to inspire all ages. From acrostic writing and story starters to family writing activity ideas, ‘Write to Unite’ has created a little bit of inspiration for all.
Once your poems and stories are written, it’s time to start sharing! Use the hashtag #writetounite across Facebook and Twitter, share them in virtual classrooms or put them up in windows.
Together we can all spread some joy, some laughter and some happiness as far as we possibly can.
