Sarah Hendrikx  - 4 October 2017 - Classroom Approaches to ASC

4.30pm - 6.30pm

Grange Park Outreach is very pleased to announce that Sarah Hendrikx will be joining us on Wednesday 4 October 2017 from 4.30pm until 6.30pm.    This event is FREE to mainstream school colleagues, parents and carers.

Synopsis

Sarah has been a keynote autism speaker at national autism conferences in the UK and overseas and specialises in speaking on all aspects of autism and Asperger syndrome including relationships, women, gender differences (sometimes with her autistic partner, Keith), employment and alcohol. She has an unusually blunt and humorous speaking style which is more informal and 'says it like it is' more than many professionals. She has written six books on the subject of autism.

Sarah was diagnosed autistic with Asperger syndrome at the age of 43 - after she had written several books on the subject. Autism in women is so invisible that Sarah did not recognise it in herself! Sarah speaks openly about her wide and varied life experiences in her talks as an autism speaker, including 30+ failed jobs, life-long mental health difficulties and numerous disastrous relationships - all of which she shares with humour and brutal honesty.

Sarah has delivered training and consultancy support to government departments, psychiatrists, National Autistic Society, police, schools, colleges, universities, care providers, careers services and management consultants. Sarah has extensive knowledge of Asperger Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Conditions and neuro-diversity from both professional and personal experience. She has worked in various roles, including Project Leader, for the ASpire project for 7 years, an adult Asperger Syndrome mentoring project as well as in Further Education as a Disability Support Tutor and in residential care.
She has a Postgraduate Certificate in Asperger Syndrome and an MA in Autism and now acts as an Associate Lecturer on the PGC in Asperger syndrome course.

On a regular basis, feedback from Sarah's training says: 'The best training I have ever been on'. Sarah is also a stand-up comedian and likes her training to be entertaining as well as informative.
